Poker for Mac: Getting Better
It seems like Windows is much more popular than Mac, Linux, or any other operating system. As a result, there aren't many online poker sites that cater to people that have chosen to use a less popular operating system. Many sites that have a downloadable client are targeted towards people that use Windows. It seems only natural that they would focus more on creating poker sites for the operating system that can connect them to the most people, but it can also be an inconvenience to other people that want to play poker online. There are a few different options that people that use different operating systems can take especially make users.
During the year of 2007, the first downloadable client for Macs to play online poker was created. The year of its creation should point to the fact that there aren't many sites targeted towards Mac users, because people just haven't really bothered. It is still a relatively new concept, and as a result, it is important for people that use Macs to be patient and either creates software themselves, or to wait until someone else does it for them. That said, there are a few downloadable poker sites for Macs, although the options are very limited.
If Mac users aren't fond of the few sites that have been created for them than they have the option of downloading windows, which many are apprehensive to do. Most people end up choosing a Mac because they have something against Windows, so it doesn't make sense to install it just to play poker. An option that doesn't hurt the pride as much is to download an emulator for Windows so that it can be used to play certain games.
If that still doesn't sound like valid option, than there is always the idea of a no download poker site. There are sites out there where people don't have to download any software to use them. This is especially useful for people running a different operating system. It is convenient, and you can still play real money poker on these types of sites. If nothing else, it is viable options until there are more online poker sites targeted towards Mac users.
Although there aren't a bunch of options for Mac users at the moment, there will surely be more in the future. The creation of that online poker client in 2007 proves that there is a growing market for Macs users that want to play poker. In the mean time, there are a few options that a Mac user can take, such as a proxy and a non download poker site.
